Pin to toolbar
For quick access, pin Glippy to your browser toolbar:
- Click the puzzle piece icon (Extensions) in your browser toolbar
- Find Glippy in the list
- Click the pin icon next to it
- The Glippy icon will now appear permanently in your toolbar
Your first scan
- Navigate to any webpage you want to analyze
- Click the Glippy icon in your toolbar
- Glippy will automatically scan the page and display your GEO score
The scan runs entirely in your browser — no data is sent to any server. Results appear in a few seconds.
You get 11 full scans covering all 10 GEO categories for free. After that, Structured Data and Semantic HTML checks remain available, or you can upgrade to Pro for unlimited scans.
Understanding your results
After scanning, Glippy shows you:
- Overall GEO Score — A number from 0 to 100 displayed in a circular ring
- Letter Grade — A (90-100), B (80-89), C (70-79), D (60-69), F (below 60)
- Page Type — Automatically detected (article, product, homepage, etc.)
- 10 Category Scores — Each category shows its own score and can be expanded to see individual check results
- Check Status Indicators:
- Pass (green) — Check passed successfully
- Warn (yellow) — Partial compliance, room for improvement
- Fail (red) — Check failed, action recommended
- Info (blue) — Informational, no action needed
Troubleshooting
Extension icon is greyed out
Glippy cannot run on certain pages:
- Chrome internal pages (
chrome://,chrome-extension://) - The Chrome Web Store itself
- New Tab page
Navigate to a regular webpage and try again.
Scan shows no results
If the popup opens but no results appear:
- Make sure the page has fully loaded before clicking Glippy
- Try refreshing the page and scanning again
- Check if the page uses heavy JavaScript rendering — Glippy analyzes the rendered DOM, so wait for content to appear
Permission errors
Glippy needs permission to read the current page content for analysis. If you see a permission error:
- Click the puzzle piece icon in your toolbar
- Click the three dots next to Glippy
- Select "Manage extension"
- Ensure "Allow access to file URLs" is enabled if you're analyzing local files
